TINA MASCARA DIRECTOR/FILMMAKER

Tina is a filmmaker driven by a commitment to telling authentic and meaningful stories. Raised in West Virginia, she found her way to filmmaking through hands-on experience and a deep interest in understanding people and their lives. Her documentaries Chris & Don: A Love Story and Monk With A Camera received critical acclaim and theatrical releases, with Chris & Don premiering at the Telluride Film Festival and earning nominations for a Gotham Award and GLAAD Media Award. Monk With A Camera premiered at Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theater and enjoyed a successful international release.

Her latest film, Professor & Grace: A Muslim Story, explores themes of faith, democracy, and resilience. The documentary follows the life and work of Khaled Abou El Fadl, a scholar and jurist whose personal journey intersects with larger political and cultural struggles in post-9/11 America. Tina’s process is one of discovery—immersing herself in the lives of her subjects to uncover the essence of their stories. With every project, she strives to create work that resonates deeply and reveals universal truths.
